Jesse Gervasio brings an analytical, purposeful approach to advocacy, grounded in the facts, sound legal judgment, and the client’s objectives.
A native of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, Jesse focuses his practice on family law, education law, defamation and privacy law, employment law, and civil litigation. He approaches contested matters with careful preparation, an understanding of the evidence, and the ability to develop and present persuasive legal arguments.
For Jesse, effective representation begins with understanding what the client hopes to accomplish. He listens carefully, examines the circumstances, and provides candid advice about the available options and potential obstacles. He believes clients deserve both an advocate who takes their concerns seriously and an honest assessment of what the law and evidence can support.
Family Law
Jesse accepts family law cases involving divorce, child custody and parenting disputes, child support, alimony, property division, and post-divorce enforcement and modification. These matters require clients to make important decisions about children, finances, property, and the course of their post-divorce lives, often while relationships are strained and significant facts are contested.
Family law calls for sound judgment as well as effective advocacy. Jesse works to identify the issues most likely to influence a dispute, develop a position supported by the facts and applicable law, and pursue a resolution consistent with the client’s objectives. When negotiation cannot produce an acceptable result, he prepares to present the client’s position in court with clarity, attention to the evidence, and a thorough understanding of the arguments at issue.
Education Law
Jesse’s education law practice covers disputes between students and schools of every grade level, including universities, graduate schools, and other institutions of higher learning. Jesse is experienced in handling issues involving special education accommodations, acts of negligence committed by schools and universities, and general disputes between schools, students, and parents.
Jesse is an effective students’ rights advocate who understands the careful approach necessary when challenging private schools and institutions of higher learning. He is dedicated to protecting students who have been wronged on campus, in the classroom, or in any aspect of their academic career. He is experienced in communicating with counsel for schools and universities and seeks to resolve academic disputes in the most efficient way possible.
Defamation & Privacy Law
Jesse’s defamation and privacy practice includes matters involving reputational harm, false allegations, First Amendment protections, and claims or defenses arising under the Tennessee Public Participation Act. His experience includes federal litigation addressing constitutional and First Amendment issues.
He is experienced in handling defamation cases arising from statements published through online video platforms and social media. His work in this area includes evaluating digital evidence, preparing pleadings, and developing legal arguments to combat false statements and allegations.
Defamation cases frequently turn on the precise language of a statement, the circumstances in which it was made, the audience that received it, and the evidence supporting or contradicting its truth. Jesse examines these considerations alongside the governing law to assess the strength of a claim or defense and determine how best to advance the client’s interests.
Employment Law
Jesse accepts employment matters involving employment agreements, non-compete and other restrictive covenants, breach of contract, wrongful termination, and allegations of workplace sexual harassment. These disputes can affect an individual’s livelihood and professional reputation or an employer’s ability to protect legitimate business interests.
He examines the employment relationship, relevant agreements, and circumstances giving rise to the disagreement to identify the legal and practical considerations that could influence its resolution. Whether advising on contractual obligations, addressing workplace allegations, or pursuing a contested claim, Jesse seeks to protect the client’s interests through informed negotiation and, when necessary, litigation.
Background
A cum laude graduate of the University of Louisville, Jesse earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Creative Writing. He later earned his Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School before returning home to practice in Tennessee.
At Cornell, Jesse served as Co-Vice President of the school’s Mock Trial Club and was a member of the team that won the 2024 Peter James Johnson National Civil Rights Mock Trial Competition. This achievement reflects his aptitude for oral advocacy, organizing evidence, responding to opposing arguments, and presenting a compelling case—skills he brings to his litigation practice today.
His legal background also includes service with the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office in Nashville and the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor in New York City. Those experiences provided exposure to criminal proceedings, evidentiary questions, witness-related matters, and the analysis of video and electronic evidence.
Outside the law, Jesse is an avid reader of history who enjoys playing tennis and pickleball in his free time. He is a former freestyle wrestler and earned a black belt in Kyokushin Karate.
Jesse hopes clients remember him for his sincere dedication to helping them achieve their goals. He measures effective representation not simply by the arguments advanced, but by the care taken to understand the client’s priorities, explain difficult choices, and pursue a thoughtful course of action from beginning to end.
